The Fitness Formula Clubs Marathon Training Program will help you join the select group of Americans that sought change in their lives or needed a goal to strive for. The requirement to start a FitnessFormulaClubs Marathon Program is run one mile without stopping.
The Fitness Formula Clubs Marathon Training Program is the most comprehensive marathon-training program in the Midwest. Included in the program are coached group strength training, coached group runs, coached yoga and Pilate's, coached speed work, coached nutrition, and team support.
The program prides itself on continual improvements to the existing program through research and feedback of past participants.
When the program began in 1997, it started as just a running program. It focused on a gradual buildup of mileage, speed work, tempo runs, field trips, and education.
In 1999, we added personal training to the program. A four-phase strength program was developed to prevent potential injuries and improve on the runner's speed. The philosophy behind the strength program was to begin with low running mileage and high strength volume. As the mileage increased, the strength volume would decrease but intensity would continue to progress. In 2000, yoga was added to increase flexibility, correct imbalances, and focus on breathing technique.
In 2001, Pilates was added to strengthen the core and assist in maintaining form in the latter stages of the marathon. Also, individual consultations with registered dietitians were conducted twice during the season. The registered dietitians met with each marathoner to ensure proper food intake and hydration. The continual improvements to the program have brought national and international recognition. The marathon program was featured in the November - December 1999 IDEA Health and Fitness Source Magazine. Also, Scott Lewandowski, Director of Health and Fitness of Union Station Multiplex, has presented the marathon program to coaches, personal trainers, and fitness programmers at the 2000 International Health, Racquet, and Sports club Association Convention in San Francisco, California and Club Industry 2001 Trade Show in Chicago, Illinois.
